File processing

Turn local file exchange into a connected workflow. D-Flow Desktop links applications on the workstation with the D-Flow platform, making files and their business data available for the next step.

File handover is not restricted to particular formats or industries. You choose which files to transfer and which directories to monitor. We tailor content processing and the resulting workflows to your working environment and requirements.

Practical example

GDT handover from a practice system

GDT handover from a practice information system is one example already in active use by our customers.

A physician starts a follow-up process from their practice information system (AIS). The system generates a GDT file and launches the connected D-Flow application. D-Flow Desktop enables the handover between the local system and the web application.

Staff can import files interactively and use the patient details and requests supplied with them in the relevant case. The agreed interface and workflow determine which fields are imported and how they are assigned. Work can then continue with the existing context, without entering every detail again.

File intake

Monitor exchange folders automatically

Files can also be imported without launching D-Flow from another application. D-Flow Desktop runs on the workstation and monitors a configured exchange folder. Files placed there are detected and passed to the intended D-Flow process.

Typical sources include exports from existing business systems or documents placed in a shared handover folder. The directories to monitor and file patterns are freely configurable and set up to suit the environment. Local monitoring operates while D-Flow Desktop is running; subsequent business processing takes place in the platform.

Workflow

Turn files into actionable records

  1. Import: Initiate a file handover from an application or provide files in an exchange folder.
  2. Check and assign: Check the contents against the rules defined for the process and assign them to the relevant patient, order or case.
  3. Continue processing: Use the imported data in forms, tasks and subsequent workflow steps.

Processing is tailored to the project's file formats, data fields and validation rules. This turns a file-based interface into a traceable workflow.

Integration

Local access, central business logic

D-Flow Desktop provides access to local files and connects them to the web application. D-Flow handles business rules and subsequent processes. Existing systems can be connected while retaining their file-based handovers.
